Aurelio and Dogan Lead Offensive Onslaught in 75-67 Victory

Aurelio (24) and Dogan (20) led offensive push; Jessup hits the road to face Chico State on November 26th at 1:00 PM

ROCKLIN, Calif. – Jessup reigned victorious with a decisive 75-67 win over regional foes of Stanislaus State on Saturday afternoon at Warrior Arena.

The win advances Jessup's record to 2-2 on the season.

Head Coach Corey Laster had positive comments on his squad's performance, "I thought we took a step forward today in losing our composure but finding it again. I challenged our guards to step up and pick up their play. We received great performances from all of them. With Claudia, Gidelle and Andi leading the way."

The Warriors' offense was spearheaded by a dynamic backcourt duo, with Andheya Aurelio and Giselle Dogan combining for 44 points and hitting eight three-pointers.

Aurelio, the starting guard, posted a game-high 24 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the field, including an efficient 4-of-8 from deep, and went 6-of-7 from the free-throw line. Dogan was nearly as lethal, scoring 20 points on 8-of-18 shooting, matching Aurelio with four successful three-pointers.

Forward Porter Wood provided vital interior offense, scoring 12 points on a perfect 4-of-4 from the field and pulling down 7 rebounds. Amari Guiton also grabbed 7 rebounds and dished out 2 assists before fouling out late in the game.

Jessup established control immediately, outscoring Stanislaus State in all three of the first quarters. The Warriors built their lead early, winning the first period 19-14 and the second 22-18, heading into halftime with a comfortable 41-32 advantage. The Warriors shot a scorching 64.29% from the field in the second quarter to create separation.

The third quarter saw the Warriors maintain their offensive pace, outpacing the visiting Warriors 21-18, giving Jessup a 62-50 lead heading into the final frame. Aurelio hit a three-pointer at the 1:44 mark in the third quarter to give Jessup its largest lead of the game, a commanding 11 points (49-60).

Stanislaus State mounted a rally in the fourth quarter, outscoring Jessup 17-13. The visitors cut the lead to three points, 66-63, with 3:38 remaining. However, Jessup answered with a crucial layup by Amari Guiton, assisted by Raylyn Fergerson, to push the lead back to 68-63. Aurelio sealed the game at the free-throw line, going 4-of-4 in the final 1:23 of the contest to maintain the winning margin.

"We just want to see growth every step of the way. This was a good confidence win for our young team," continued Laster.

The Warriors' strong shooting percentage proved to be the difference, as they finished the game shooting 49.0% from the field and 40.0% from three-point range.

The Warriors will hit the road for their next contest, facing Chico State University on November 26th at 1:00 p.m.
