PRESCOTT, Ariz. - The Lady Warrior softball team traveled to Arizona for a four-game road series, kicked off by a double-header at Embry-Riddle before starting conference play at Arizona Christian.
The Warriors split with the Eagles in offensive battle in both games. After taking the first game, 6-1 with a season-high 15 hits as a team, the Warriors dropped game two in the bottom of the seventh, 7-6 to advance to 4-7 headed into conference play.
In game one Jessup hit the board first in the third inning, up 1-0, adding 5 more runs through the sixth inning.
Tessa Harris and
Kyla Cisneros sparked for the Warrior offense, both with 3 hits and an RBI each.
Shelbi Graifman took the mound for the Warriors, collecting her third win on the season, allowing just one run on two hits with 10 strikeouts.
As a team the Warriors collected a season-high 15 hits, with an impressive .405 in game one.
In game two the Eagles came alive defending their home field in a down to the wire battle. Despite the strong appearance out the gate with 4 runs in the top of the first, the Warriors lost 6-7 in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Corina Salinas led the Warriors going 3-for-4 followed by
Haley Stevenson (2-4) with 2 RBIs.
Moriah Gonzalez took the circle in the final game of the day, pitching 3.1 innings, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits with a single strikeout. Graifman came back in to close the game the final 3.5 innings allowing the final 4 runs on 5 hits as the Eagles took the victory.
The Warriors will take on Arizona Christian tomorrow in a doubleheader starting at 11am for their first conference matchup of the season.
