Warriors Sweep No. 23 Hope International

Warrriors Hold Royals to a Single Hit in Each Game

FULLERTON, Calif. - Closing out their final long-road trip series, the Warriors softball team took on No. 23 Hope International in Fullerton, Calif. coming off a series split with San Diego Christian Friday afternoon. Taking charge in the circle for both games were Shelbi Graifman and Mariah Gonzalez who both pitched a shutout, only allow one hit per game; Graifman taking game one 2-0 and Gonzalez game two 3-0.

GAME ONE
Contributing not just in the circle, but in the batter's box, Graifman started the top of the fourth inning with a single to right center. Ali Medina and Taya Ruiz pushed her over to scoring position as Natalie Basaldua came through with the RBI-single to score the first run of the game as Graifman crossed the plate.

In the circle the starting pitcher collected her 9th win of the season, now 9-8 overall allowing just one hit with six total strikeouts. Graifman finished her time in the line-up going 2-1 with a walk and hit by pitch to get on for the Warriors.

In the following inning the Warriors would add another run with a pair of singles from Corina Salinas and Ruiz to go up 2-0. The Warriors would collect a total two runs on seven hits for the 2-0 victory over the Royals.

GAME TWO
The fourth inning seemed to spark the Warriors in game two as well with Salinas reaching on an error by the Royals followed by a single to right field by Kyla Cisneros, and Graifman pushing the pair over to scoring position with a sacrifice bunt. A trio of singles would follow in Ruiz, Medina and Blaquera to score two runs and the 2-0 advantage over Hope going into the fifth inning.

Taking the circle for the Warriors in game two of the doubleheader was freshman Mariah Gonzales collecting her 5th win this season, 5-7 overall, allowing a solo hit with one strikeout.

The Warriors would add another insurance run in the top of the sixth with back-to-back doubles by Graifman and Ruiz to seal the win 3-0.

Jessup will head to Menlo College next week for a doubleheader on Saturday before heading back home for the final series of regular season against Biola
University.
