Warriors Split on the Road with National Ranked Red Hawks

REDDING, Calif. - The Warriors took the road north for a doubleheader against nationally recognized (18) Simpson University to start the week after a pair of double headers this weekend where they went 2-2. In the last outing against the Red Hawks the Warriors split in the two-day matchups, this time around was much of the same as Jessup took game one 7-3 and Simpson rallied back for the 9-1 victory in game two.

GAME 1
The Warriors were led by Shelbi Graifman in the circle to start things off on the day pitching a complete seven-inning game with eight strikeouts while allowing just three runs on seven hits. Jessup would take the early lead in the top of the first and ride the lead until they added another run in the top of the fourth and sixth before the Red Hawks would answer back.

Up headed into the top of the seventh, the Warriors led up 4-1 and added another three runs in the top of the seventh before Simpson answered back with two, but came up short as the Warriors took game one, 7-3.

Offensively Jenna Patterson, Taya Ruiz and Corina Salinas all had doubles on the day to lead the Warriors.

GAME 2
In game two the lead would switch as the Red Hawks went up 1-0 in the first inning and it took until the top of the third for the Warriors to answer back. Salinas would bring in her second double of the day to start things off for the Warriors in the top of the third. Abbie Lewis would continue with a single up the middle followed by Graifman singling to left to bring in the solo run for the day.

Posting another run in the following frame, Simpson would go-ahead 2-1, but then they would cross another seven-runs over the plate in the fourth to end the game in the fifth as the Warriors struggled to answer back 9-1.

Jessup softball will return to home field this Friday and Saturday as they host Southern Oregon and Oregon Tech in a pair of doubleheaders looking to improve their 11-6 non-conference record.
