IRVINE, Calif. -- After taking an early 5-0 lead in the opening four frames the Jessup softball team couldn't hold on as they lost 6-5 to Arizona Christian in the opening round of the GSAC conference championship.
In the second inning, the Warriors offense got going thanks to a double from
Jordyn Turner and an
Abbie Lewis single that brought in three combined runs giving the Warriors the early lead.
Then in both the third and fourth innings, the Warriors added a run apiece when
Natalie Basaldua tripled in the third and
Lauren Garoutte sacrifice flew to bring in
Jenna Patterson.
But Patterson's score would be the Warriors last of the afternoon as ACU scored five runs in the fifth inning alone to tie the game and then scored the eventual game-winner on a single to right field in the sixth inning.
The Warriors were unable to tie or take the lead in the bottom of the seventh inning. Basaldua led the Warrior offense with a team-high three hits, while
Jordyn Turner had a team-high two RBIs,
Abbie Lewis also added two stolen bases in her two at-bats.
