Jessup Athletics officially introduced Brandon Padilla to the team as the new Head Athletic Trainer in July of 2021. Padilla brings to Jessup over 20 years of experience working at both the professional and collegiate athletic levels.

Before joining the Warriors, Padilla worked just up the highway at Sacramento State University. Padilla held the title of Director of Athletic Training and NCAA Athletics Health Care Administrator, overseeing all athletic training for the Hornets.

During his ten-year stint with the Hornets, Padilla oversaw the sports medicine program for all 21 NCAA Division I sports sponsored by Sacramento State. The team of athletic trainers Padilla led included five full-time assistants and four graduate assistants across the program’s three functioning athletic training rooms.

Padilla also helped to oversee the health and safety of the athletic department at Sacramento State during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Before joining the Hornets, Padilla spent three seasons as the Director of Sports Medicine and Head Athletic Trainer at the University of New Orleans. Padilla oversaw a staff of two full-time assistants and was responsible for the sports medicine program for all of the university’s nine varsity sports.

While in New Orleans, Padilla also served as the Strength and Conditioning Coach for the university’s men’s basketball team.

A career at the Division I level of the NCAA began for Padilla in 2002 as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Texas A&M University in College Station, TX. Padilla was assigned to men’s and women’s track and field, men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s swimming/diving, and softball.

Padilla’s career featured a two-year stint in professional sports before making the jump to the collegiate ranks. During the 2001 season, Padilla worked as an Assistant Athletic Trainer for the Miami Dolphins of the NFL.

Along with his work within the athletics department, Padilla is currently a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, Far West Athletic Trainers’ Association, and the California Athletic Trainers’ Association.

Padilla earned his B.S. in 2001 from Iowa State University, studying Exercise and Sport Science with an emphasis in Athletic Training. In 2007 he finished his M.S. in Leadership Education from Texas A&M.
