Jessup Athletics formally announced the hiring of Isaac Sanchez as the university's newest Head Coach for men's and women's golf in May of 2021. Sanchez brings to Jessup years of professional experience as a player and television analyst for golf.
Â
On the hiring of Sanchez, Athletic Director Lance Von Vogt stated, "We had an overwhelming response to our men's and women's head golf position. However, Isaac's unique combination of strong faith, heart for student-athletes, ability to teach the game of golf, and communicate clearly, quickly moved him to the top of the talented pool."
Â
Sanchez joins the Warriors after years playing professional golf, a career in which he has eclipsed over 50 professional victories. In addition to his professional success, Sanchez has also been a guest participant in over 50 charity golf tournaments to support community-based programs in the Sacramento Area.
Â
As a television personality, Sanchez finished third on the Golf Channel's 2012 edition of Big Break Greenbrier. The following year, he returned to the show, this time teaming up with NFL Hall of Fame member Jerry Rice, as the duo won their season of Big Break NFL in Puerto Rico.
Â
Sanchez and Rice have remained teammates, as Sanchez most recently worked as Rice's caddy in the nationally televised American Century Championship at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course in South Lake Tahoe.
Â
The on-screen work of Sanchez continues with NBC Sports, as he is a co-host of the Driven Golf Show. Sanchez can be seen on the program wearing the Jessup Golf logo since his hiring in 2021. He has also made special guest appearances on Driver vs. Driver on the Golf Channel and numerous appearances on KCRA 3 Reports and Good Day Sacramento.
Â
On joining the Warriors, Sanchez stated his goal is "for the teams to win national championships. I think that coming in as the coach that is my goal and definitely where I want the mindset of the program."
Â
Von Vogt adds to this belief, stating, "Isaac brings a fire to the job at hand. Many would say it is beyond purpose and more of a calling. That is going to serve him well moving forward. I can't wait to see the amazing things that will happen with our golf student-athletes on and off the course."Â
Â
As a collegiate athlete, Sanchez competed at the University of Hawaii. Sanchez currently resides with his family in Loomis and calls Whitney Oaks Golf Club, the home of Jessup Golf, his home course as well.
