Matthew Robinson

Matthew Robinson completed his first year of coaching for the Warriors in 2018-19 and is now a full-time coach for both the men’s and women’s golf programs.

In his inaugural season with the Warriors, Robinson helped lead the men’s team to their best year in program history, finishing one stroke shy of a National Tournament berth as the Warriors finished runner-up at the GSAC Championship.

During his second year with the program, Jessup competed in eight events before the season’s early conclusion due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Of those eight events, the Warriors' men's golf team recorded back-to-back second-place finishes at the William Jessup Fall Invitational and Pacific Coach Highway Invitational hosted by Menlo College.

Robinson is the first Head Coach for the women’s golf program at Jessup. In their inaugural season, the Warriors played in seven events, with their top finish coming in third place at the William Jessup Fall Invitational.

Before coaching, Robinson played golf at the both the collegiate and professional levels. Robinson earned his degree in Psychology from Jessup in 2013. He also attended nearby Sierra College.

“Being part of the Jessup staff allows me the opportunity to help facilitate growth in my players' games and hopefully have a meaningful impact in their lives.”

When asked what his vision of the golf program at Jessup can look like, Robinson said, “My vision for the William Jessup golf program is to continue building on the success Coach (Tim) Hovancsek has had, and help make William Jessup golf a perennially ranked team.”

Robinson is a local product who grew up in Rocklin. He currently lives in Auburn.
