Alexis Blunk

Alexis Blunk (formerly Welch) was announced as the first-ever head coach of Jessup STUNT in September of 2019. In five seasons with the Warriors, Blunk has created a national powerhouse as the Warriors won three consecutive NAIA STUNT National Championships and reached the National Championship Game in their first Division II season.

"The hiring of Alexis Welch as our first-ever head coach for STUNT shows how serious we are about making STUNT an impact sport for Jessup and a flagship program for the NAIA,” athletic director Lance Von Vogt commented. “Alexis competed in STUNT at NCAA Division I Cal Poly and then immediately upon graduation became the lead assistant coach, she has shown herself as one of the most driven young coaches that I've come across in my years as a collegiate administrator. She brings uncommon energy and enthusiasm to every day in addition to an enormous amount of technical knowledge and STUNT strategy to the table."

  • The first season of Jessup STUNT got underway in 2021 when the Warriors took on Concordia-Irvine from Costa Mesa on February 19. Jessup then played their first home contest on March 13, in an empty gym, against Blunk's alma mater of Cal Poly. The Warriors went 0-8 in the first season of the program's existence.
  • Jessup found success right away in year two, performing in front of fans for the first time on February 11 as they defeated Sacramento State for the first win in program history. Jessup jumped to No. 2 in the NAIA STUNT rankings, earning the second year program a spot in the STUNT National Championship. With STUNT Nationals taking place inside Warrior Arena, Jessup put on a show for their home fans as they won the NAIA STUNT National Championship with a 9-8 victory over reigning champs, Vanguard. Blunk led the Warriors to a 13-5 record in the National Championship season.
  • Coming off a championship season in 2022, the Warriors continued their dominance in 2023 by winning a program record 18 games. Jessup suffered just one loss in the '23 season, coming against NCAA Division I National Champions Cal Baptist. The Warriors successfully defended their National Championship by again beating Vanguard in the championship game, this time in Oklahoma. The Warriors capped off the championship season with seven CSCA All-Americans, including four First-Team selections. For her work, Blunk was selected as the inaugural Jessup Athletics Coach of the Year, along with the honor of being USA Cheer's NAIA Coach of the Year as well.
  • The Warriors completed the three-peat in 2024, as Jessup took down Hope International in the NAIA STUNT National Championship Game to win its third-straight national championship. Jessup went 18-3 in year four, and sat at No. 1 in the nation every week until the start of nationals. Jessup's only losses came to DI programs Cal Baptist and Cal Poly, along with a loss to Hope International in the GSAC Tournament. Seven Warriors earned CSCA All-American honors for the second year in a row, while two more year specialist awards.
  • Jessup continued their dominance in year one of their Division II era as Blunk guided the Warriors to its fourth consecutive College STUNT Nationals appearance. The Warriors won their first three games to reach the national championship game for the fourth year in a row. A fourpeat bid was ended with a 15-12 loss to Davenport. Jessup won 15 games in the 2025 season and hit as high as No. 3 in the Division II STUNT rankings.
Prior to Jessup
Blunk comes to the Warriors with a wealth of knowledge as a specialized coach in the STUNT organization, as well as personal experience as an NCAA Div. I cheerleading and STUNT student-athlete and coach.

Hailing from Galt, Calif., Blunk brought STUNT to her hometown, Liberty Ranch High School where she built the program from the ground up serving as the head coach for the past 5 years. But her drive and impact in the STUNT arena don’t stop there, she also serves as a head instructor for Universal Cheerleaders Association the past six years and four years as a Varsity Spirit judge and USA Cheer official.

In 2018 and 2019 Blunk left her mark as she was named the 2018 UCA West Coast Veteran Instructor of the Year while helping guide Cal Poly Cheerleading to the title of Game Day National Champions in Division 1A at UCA College Nationals in Orlando, Florida. This past season, while on staff, the 2019 Cal Poly STUNT team earned a bid to compete at the College STUNT National Championship in Norman, Okla. where they finished in the top four teams in the country.

As a student-athlete, she competed for the Mustangs in both cheerleading and STUNT all four years serving as a main and secondary base. While at Cal Poly she was part of two teams that went on to the UCA College Nationals ( 2014 and 2017).
