Veronica Graves

Coming from Bend, Oregon, Veronica ran Cross Country and Track in high school. Before accepting a Track & Field scholarship to California State University, Chico, she ran for Mt. Hood Community College in Gresham, Oregon. A full ride scholarship athlete while attending Mt. Hood, Veronica was introduced to the 400-meter intermediate hurdles during her sophomore year. In her first year at Chico State, Veronica not only broke a 13-year-old record in the 400m hurdles, she also qualified for Nationals. Her record remained unbroken for 10 years. Her 4X400m relay was 2nd on the top ten list and nationally ranked her senior year.

After college, she ran professionally for Team Axis and trained for the 2004 Olympic Trials under her college hurdle coach. Hanging up her track spikes in 2004, Veronica went on to further her studies at Chico State in the Master’s program for Exercise Physiology and Kinesiology. She accepted the Head Cross Country and Track and Field position at Feather River College in Quincy, California in June 2013. In her first year as Head Coach, she led the Golden Eagles to their first Golden Valley Conference Championships, putting Feather River College on the map. During spring Track season, she again led the women’s track team to the Conference Championships, placing 5th, while two student-athletes qualified for the Nor-Cal State Championships.

Outside of Track & Field, Veronica is active in CrossFit and the outdoor life with her husband and newborn son. “I am excited to work with all the student athletes at William Jessup University. I believe that the Lord has a great plan for the future of William Jessup in Track and Field. I also truly feel blessed and love by our God that I am here at WJU. I hope to be a mentor, coach, friend, support, and help to all here at WJU. Let’s have a great, fun and successful season! GO WARRIORS!”
