Jessup Athletics announced the addition of Kayla Altheide as Sports Information Coordinator in August of 2023. Altheide, a Jessup graduate, will continue to grow with the Warriors now as a full-time staff member.
Altheide will assist Sports Information Director Matthew Horrocks in Jessup’s day-to-day communication efforts. She will also play a large role in game management, community relations, and fan engagement.
“Anytime we get to help one of our own grow in their role, it’s a positive thing,” said Horrocks. “We had many talented individuals apply for this position, but after sitting down and talking to Kayla, it became clear that she was the right one to join this team. Her strengths will be put to use right away as we look to build something special here at Jessup.”
Altheide is a familiar name to those within Jessup Athletics and the GSAC. As a student-athlete, Altheide was the starting first baseman during Jessup Softball’s run to the 2022 GSAC Championship. She ended her career with the Warriors with a .360 OBP, adding 11 doubles and 26 RBI.
Her character was displayed off the field, as Altheide was Jessup’s recipient of the 2022 Cliff Hamlow Champions of Character Award, given annually by the GSAC.
The transition to a full-time member of the Jessup staff comes after Altheide spent the 2022-23 season as the GSAC Diversity Intern. Her time with the GSAC saw Altheide assist in social media production, website content creation, and management of GSAC Championship events.
Altheide also spent the 2023 season as an Assistant Coach for Jessup Softball, a role she will continue in a volunteer capacity in the spring of 2024. Her resume also includes stints with the Lincoln Potters, Stockton Ports, and Stockton Heat.
Originally from Stockton, Altheide now resides in Lincoln.
