ROCKLIN, Calif. - The Jessup men's basketball program signs Clovis East senior from Fresno, Calif. Jaylen Johnson to the 2017-18 recruiting class. The 6'5" small forward joins the program with a list of athletic and academic achievement in his high school career, looking to further his education and basketball career at the collegiate level.

Lance Von Vogt commented. "Getting to know him you find out real quick that he has character and integrity and that he holds the same values that we develop as the core values of our basketball program. He is a great fit for us."
Johnson was impressed with the feeling of community at Jessup and looks forward to growing and developing under the Jessup coaching staff. "Overall, attending William Jessup will provide an outstanding academic education, an opportunity to be a part of a team who seeks to achieve the highest levels of performance, and foster my beliefs in myself and the world around me. I am honored to be joining the William Jessup family," said Johnson.
Over the last four years, Johnson has been a key role in the Timberwolves success with being named to the All-Tournament teams at the Martin Luther King Jr. Showcase at College of the Sequoias, Modesto Christian Holiday Hoop Classic, Legacy Tip-Off Classic, Las Vegas. ?Most recently in his senior season, Johnson was named Clovis East MVP and First Team All-Tri-Rivers Athletic Conference.
Coach Von Vogt spoke to the talents behind the recognition, "On the court, he is a unique talent who is multi-dimensional. Jaylen will play multiple positions and fill multiple roles on our team throughout his career. The sky's the limit for him and with his work ethic we are expecting big things from him over the next 5 years."
Looking to pursue a career as a defense attorney, Johnson will be studying pre-law in his time at Jessup.
"Academically, William Jessup will serve as an excellent foundation to my aspirations of becoming a defense attorney, with my major in pre-law. I felt that the spirit of William Jessup aligns with my beliefs as a person and will support my continued growth as a contributing member of society," Johnson concluded.
