The 2022-23 season was the tenth and final for Lance Von Vogt as the head coach of the Jessup Warriors. The seasoned veteran spent 14 seasons as a head coach, joinng his 22 years of experience in basketball administration. Von Vogt eclipsed over 250 all-time victories, and ended his time with Jessup as the winningest coach in program history, totaling a record of 183-113 at Jessup. With the Warriors, Von Vogt took the program to the NAIA National Tournament three times (2016, 2019, and 2022). He also led the Warriors to eight consecutive seasons of national recognition in the NAIA Coaches' Poll.

YEAR-BY-YEAR RESULTS
- Von Vogt was given the reigns in his inaugural season of 2013 where he led William Jessup to a 17-10 record, going 11-1 in the California Pacific Conference (CALPAC).
- The following two seasons Von Vogt transitioned the team from the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Division II to NAIA Division I while also joining the Golden State Athletic Conference (GSAC); arguably, the most competitive conference in the NAIA.
- In 2015-16, Von Vogt led the men's basketball program to their first-ever NAIA Division I top-25 ranking and also earning a trip to the 2016 NAIA Division I Men's Basketball National Championship. Jessup, entering as a seventh seed, defeated tournament favorite Pikeville (Ky.) in the first round before being eliminated by Mid-American Nazarene in the second round. The win against Pikeville was Jessup first tournament victory ever. The Warriors closed out the season ranked at No. 23 in the nation in the final coaches polls.
- The following two seasons the Warriors have had a consistent presence in the Top-25 with four national rankings in 2016-17 and three appearances in 2017-18.
- In 2018-19 the Warriors began the season unranked but got in to the top 25 on Jan. 2 and remained there for the final six national polls finishing at No. 16 after losing in the first round of the NAIA national tournament.
- The 2019-20 season ended with yet another visit to the GSAC Tournament for Von Vogt and the Warriors. Jessup closed the year 18-13, earning a spot in the Top-25 rankings for the fifth consecutive season. Guards Isaiah Milan and Luis Medearis earned All-GSAC honors, while Medearis was named Honorable Mention on the NAIA All-American Team.
- Jessup’s 2020-21 campaign was filled with several highs, as for the sixth consecutive year the Warriors cracked the Top-25, reaching No. 24. The Warriors started the conference season a perfect 6-0 before finishing second in the GSAC East at 7-3. Jessup went 10-5 on the year, and featured two All-GSAC players in Myles Corey and Tarren Storey-Way.
- The 21-22 season concluded as the most successful year in program history. Von Vogt guided the Warriors to a record 30 wins as the team reached the NAIA Quarterfinals for the first time. Along the way, Jessup reached No. 4 in the NAIA Coaches’ Poll, the highest ranking of any Jessup program at that time. Guard Cash Williams was named the GSAC Player of the Year, while guard Myles Corey earned his second-consecutive All-GSAC nod. Williams (1st Team) and Corey (Honorable Mention) were also named NAIA All-Americans.
- Von Vogt and the Warriors opened the 22-23 season with the highest preseason ranking in program history, opening up at No. 6 overall. Jessup competed in one of the toughest non-conference schedules in America, playing all but two games away from Warrior Arena. The Warriors managed to go 16-13, ending their season in the quarterfinal of the GSAC Tournament. Cashemin Williams earned his second All-American (2nd Team), with Myles Corey joining him once again as an Honorable Mention selection.
COACHING EXPERIENCE
Prior to joining the Warriors, Von Vogt came to Jessup after three highly successful seasons as the head men basketball coach and assistant athletic director at Peninsula College in Port Angeles, Washington. The Pirates posted a 65-25 overall record while going 34-12 in the North Division of the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges (NWAACC) over the last three years.
In his first season with the Pirates, he led them to their first NWAACC Championship in forty-one years and was honored as the NWAACC Coach of the Year as the Pirates went 22-7. Heading into his second year, the Pirates started out the year ranked No. 1 in the NWAACC and earned their first national ranking in school history and made it to the final four of the NWAACC tournament.
In three seasons, Von Vogt had coached one NWAACC MVP, four All-NWAACC, six All-North Division and five All-Academic players. In addition to coaching, he served as the athletic development coordinator for the Pirate Athletic Association.
Prior to his arrival at Peninsula, Von Vogt spent four seasons as the lead assistant men's basketball coach and recruiting coordinator at Arizona Western College in Yuma, Arizona.† During his time at AWC, he helped guide the Matadors to three Arizona Community College Athletic Conference championships and two NJCAA Region XVIII championships as they went 103-24 over Von Vogt's four-year tenure.† Von Vogt recruited and developed four All-Americans, seven All-Region, and ten All-Conference players.†
Before arriving at AWC in 2006, he was the assistant at Eastern Kentucky University where the Division I Colonels placed fourth in the Ohio Valley Conference. Prior to that, he was the head coach at Oxford College of Emory University, where he led the Eagles to a pair of playoff appearances. His three years are the three most successful seasons in the history of the program earning two playoff appearances which were the first in the program's history. In his third season, Oxford College of Emory University recorded a school-record 22 wins, regional and inter-regional championships and a spot in the NJCAA Top 10, which earned Von Vogt the 2004-05 Region Coach of the Year honors.
Von Vogt's first coaching experience came under the legendary coach Lefty Driesell. Von Vogt served as the director of basketball operations at Georgia State under Driesell from 2000 through 2002. During that time, the Panthers earned a trip to the 2001 NCAA Tournament and advanced to the second round with a win over Wisconsin. Georgia State followed with it's first-ever trip to the NIT in 2002. Von Vogt also worked as a graduate assistant for Georgia Tech for two seasons.

STUDENT-ATHLETE & PERSONAL
In 1992-93 Von Vogt played for St. Johns River Community College as a shooting guard before transferring to the University of South Florida to finish his undergraduate education. Von Vogt earned his Bachelor's Degree in Mass Communications from the University of South Florida and went on to receive a Master's Degree in Sports Administration from Georgia State.
The Daytona Beach Shores, Florida native currently resides in Lincoln with his wife Charlyle and has two daughters, Lauren and Aspen. Off the court, you can find the Warrior's leader enjoying outdoor activities like swimming, camping, hiking and spending time with the family dog, Kona.
