Jessup Can’t Crack the Scoreboard in 3-0 Loss

Warriors Outshoot Master’s 17-11, Fall to 1-5 in GSAC Play

ROCKLIN, Calif. – Hoping to avenge their loss down in Southern California earlier this season, the Warriors took on (17) The Master's College Mustangs for the second time in 2015. The time of possession was controlled for the most part by the Mustangs, and at the end of the day the Warriors were on the wrong end of a 3-0 defeat.

Jessup had a few opportunities to score Saturday. Their first chance came in just the seventh minute when senior Cody Cantell (Santa Rosa, CA) crossed a ball to junior Justin Soria (Rocklin, CA) in the box, but Soria headed it wide. Just over ten minutes later, the Mustangs got the scoring started when Ryan Dolan headed in a corner kick from Zach Klindworth.

The Warriors had a near chance to tie the match in the 40th minute when junior Aaron Roudebush (Rocklin, CA) played a through ball to freshman Conner Entz (Auburn, CA) for a one-on-one chance with the goalkeeper, but Entz was denied on the shot. Four minutes later the Mustangs scored again on a shot by Austin Rochow.

The second half started off quick for Master's as it took them just seven minutes to increase their lead to 3-0. Humphrey Mahowa scored off of Klindworth's second assist of the day to give his side some insurance. The Warriors would continue to press, and even outshot the Mustangs 17-11, but it was not in the cards for Jessup to pull off the upset.

In goal for Jessup Saturday was senior Zachary Kammerer (Rocklin, CA). Kammerer recorded 5 saves in his 90-minutes of play. For the Mustangs, Casey Phillips recorded 7 saves in 90-minutes.

The loss pushes the Warriors to 4-6-1 overall on the 2015 campaign, and 1-5 in conference play. Jessup currently sits in eighth place in the GSAC standings, 13 points behind first place Biola University.

Jessup will retake the field on Tuesday when they play host to old-rivals the Menlo College Oaks at 3:00 p.m. The last time the Oaks and Warriors squared off was on the final day of the 2013 season. The Warriors won that match 1-0 in overtime to clinch the California Pacific Conference Northern Division.
