Santa Clarita, Calif. – The men's soccer squad from William Jessup University traveled to sunny Southern California to take on the No. 18 ranked Masters College Mustangs, but they were unable to establish a foothold, ultimately succumbing to a 0-4 defeat.
The Master's College attacked early and often making numerous early attempts at goal as the game started. The attack didn't let up. They first connected on a fast break down the left side of the pitch where the Mustang's Trevor Mangan found himself one-on-one against Jessup goalkeeper Zachary Kammerer (Rocklin, CA). Kammerer raced off his line to intercept, but a shot past his reach found the net to put Master's on the board. The Warriors would end play after an overall good defensive performance down only 0-1.
The second half began with the Mustang's making a scoring run right away on their first attack. After a cross into the box was headed in by the Mustang's Lloyed, the Warriors found themselves down 2-0. Two additional goals would be found by the Mustang's before the game's final whistle in the 51st and 71st minutes of play to send the Warriors home empty handed.
Kammerer recorded four saves on the day and Jessup mustered multiple promising attacks often led by forwards Justin Soria (Rocklin, CA) and Conner Entz (Auburn, CA). Despite the bright points the Warriors were unable to convert to the scoreboard to stay in the game. After two games, the Warriors find themselves 0-2 on GSAC play, (3-5-1 overall) while also searching for their first goal against a conference opponent.
Jessup will remain on the road for two additional conference games, with their next matching occurring in La Mirada, California against Biola University. The Warriors will return to their home pitch on Oct., 15 where they will play host to Arizona Christian University at 3 p.m.
