ROCKLIN, Calif. – The Warrior volleyball team hung tough against the nation's top team Friday night but were unable to muster a finish that would steal a game away from Biola, leaving a final score of 0-3 (18-25, 19-25, 14-25).
"The team is feeling good," said Jessup's head coach Shasta Millhollin-Bossom. "I think we are mad that we didn't push and I think the girls know that number one or not we could have definitely taken one game if not the match, we were right there with them."
The Warriors made their best appearance in the second game battling to stay level with Biola until the score showed even at 12. Biola organized a 6-0 run on Jessup, from which the Warriors were unable to recover.
Freshman Carlie Mills (Scottsdale, AZ) led the offensive charge for the Warriors with five kills, but Jessup struggled to pinpoint any holes in the Biola defense converting 13 kills in 67 attempts. Star setter Kylee Thompson was held to a season-low 11 assists in 68 attempts.
The Jessup Warriors move to a record of 4-9 and will continue their hunt for their first GSAC conference win of the still-new season Saturday, Sep 19 in Warrior Arena against another GSAC southern California school in the form of Hope International.
"The next push is just adopting the mentality that were not just surviving, were right there with every team," concluded Millhollin-Bossom. "I think it's just been an eye-opener the last three matches in conference that we can build, but we can win while we're building."***
