Lady Warriors Start Final Road Trip of the Year with 3-0 Loss

Jessup Fails to Get a Shot on Goal, Warriors Remain Two Points out of Playoff Contention

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – The William Jessup University soccer program made the trip down to Southern California for the second time this season, kicking off a two-match road trip at The Masters University on Thursday. The Lady Warriors looked to pick up their second-straight GSAC win, but it was the Mustangs that secured the win on their home field by the score of 3-0.

After defeating San Diego Christian on Saturday, the momentum of the win was quickly wiped away as Hannah Bahr put the Mustangs on the board in the 32nd minute. Bahr struck the ball from about 30 yards out, and the shot found the top right corner of the goal for the first tally of the day.

Early in the second half, the Mustangs added to their lead as Sydney Robinson made the score 2-0. Robinson took a pass at the edge of the six-yard box from Lynnae George and was able to slot one in on her first touch. The goal was aided by a dual assist from George and Anna Brazil.

Masters would score their third and final goal of the day late in the 82nd minute after Hailey Gomillion converted on a penalty kick attempt.

In goal Thursday for Jessup once again was senior Brianna Evans (Roseville, CA). Evans played all 90-minutes and recorded 4 saves while allowing the three goals.

Jessup was able to get off just three shots in the loss Thursday, with none of them coming on goal. All three of the Warriors' shots came from sophomore Yvette Perez (Santa Rosa, CA), with one them coming on a free kick that narrowly flew over the crossbar.

With the loss, the Warriors' record on the 2016 campaign falls to 5-9-1 overall. In conference play, Jessup sits at 1-5-1 for a total of four points in the standings. As of Thursday afternoon, Jessup sits just two points out of the final spot in the GSAC playoffs.

The Warriors have just one road match left on their schedule, and it is set to take place on Saturday when Jessup travels to Santa Barbara to take on Westmont College. The meeting Saturday will be the first and only match between the two sides in 2016, and kickoff is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
