ATHERTON, Calif. - The William Jessup men's soccer team closed out the season on the road taking on Menlo College in what would result in a shutout for the Oaks on their senior day, 3-0 with the Warriors finishing the 2017 season at 5-12-1 overall and 2-8 in conference.
Starting things off strong, the Warriors outshot the Oaks in the first half, 8-3 with a pair of shots on goal by
Oscar Munoz and
Daniel Cervantes. Holding down the goal for the Warriors through 75-minutes of play was junior
Nick Garcia collecting one save and allowing a pair of goals.
With a scoreless game after the first half, the tables turned in the second half with the Oaks taking 9 shots to the Warriors 4, for an even 12 shots total for both teams.
The Oaks would strike first right after the break in the 53rd minute to go up 1-0 and another goal would come in the 67th minute for the 2-0 advantage with just over 20 minutes left to play.
Senior
Robert Harmelink would come in for the final fifteen minutes of the game and his final appearance in the blue and red. He finished the game with one save.
Menlo would seal the deal with their final goal in the 81st minute to finish on top 3-0.
