VALLEJO, Calif. - The Lady Warriors got back to their winning ways after defeating the Cal Maritime Keelhaulers 82-54 on the road Saturday night.
This victory pushes the Warriors record to 9-6 as the team has now officially wrapped up its preseason schedule. From the moment the game tipped off the Warriors had their foot on the gas pedal and within the opening minutes, Jessup took an 8-0 lead.
The Keelhaulers rallied back with a run of their own, but the Warriors showed no quit as they had a dominating first half and led 37-24 at the break.
Senior forward
Ashlyn Jones came out on fire in the third quarter as she had 7 of her game-high 21 points in a matter of three consecutive possessions. Joining Jones in double figures was
Anisah Smith with 16 points and five rebounds.
Smith and Jones' success was in large part to the command of the offense from junior point guard
Olivia Luu as she scored five points, pulled down five rebounds and had four assists to boot. Olivia's sister
Janelle Luu also had a productive outing scoring eight points and grabbing seven rebounds.
The Lady Warriors will hit the road for a two-game road trip where they will take on Westmont College and The Master's University to kick off conference play on January 4th and 6th respectively.
