Salinas With Walk-off Single to Even the Series Against Arizona Christian

Warriors Take Sole Possession of Third in GSAC Standings with Split Against Firestorm

ATHERTON, Calif. - Jessup traveled to a neutral site on Saturday to take on visiting Arizona Christian in their final two-game series matchup with the Firestorm of the season, holding a 2-0 advantage. The Firestorm would steal one with a late comeback in game one (4-2), but the biggest comeback of the day came for the Warriors in game two with Corina Salinas scoring the winning run on a single for the 4-3 win.

Warriors maintain their .500 average in conference competition (7-7) and hold sole possession of third place, just below nationally ranked conference foes (17) Vanguard University and (23) Hope International.

GAME 1
After a couple 1-2-3 out innings, the Warriors were sparked with a leadoff double by Stephanie Scott in the bottom of the third, while coming in to score off a stolen base and error by visiting Firestorm to go up 1-0.

In the sixth inning Arizona Christian would even things up 1-1 off two hits and two errors by the Warriors, but in the bottom of the frame Jessup would answer back to take the 2-1 lead. Salinas would start things off with a double to left center and later come in to score off an RBI-single by Clarissa Blaquera.

But the final inning was in favor of Arizona with two outs, two runners on, Jessup starter Shelbi Graifman gave up only her third hit of the game, a three-run homer to solidify game one for the Firestorm, 4-2.

GAME 2
The momentum would remain with the Arizona to start the final game of the doubleheader as they took an early lead in top of the third putting up three runs.
With three innings remaining, the Warriors started a late comeback in the bottom of the fifth inning with a solo shot over the left field fence from Ali Medina as the Warriors now trail 3-1.

Power-hitting pair Salinas and Kyla Cisneros led off in the bottom of the sixth and proved their position in the line-up. Salinas did her job laying down a nice bunt to get on base followed by clean-up Cisneros evening the score with a shot to left field for a two-run homer.
It was all tied up going into the final inning as the defense did their job in the top of the frame with three quick outs for the final opportunity to take the win before sending it to extra innings.

With two outs Tessa Harris got on with a single down the left-field line, advancing to second on a steal with Salinas at the plate. Salinas would come through with the RBI-single to win the game for the Warriors 4-3 over the Firestorm, taking the conference series 3-1.

Toeing the rubber for the Warriors in game two was freshman Mariah Gonzalez collecting her fourth win of the season allowing just three runs on six hits, while walking six and striking out one.

The Warriors will hit the road for their final southern California road series taking on San Diego Christian on Friday, and facing national ranked Hope International on Saturday before heading home for their last three-conference matchups before the conference tournament.
