COSTA MESA, Calif. - With an early departure the Warriors hit the road for a single game this afternoon against Arizona Christian playing at Vanguard University to make-up game two of the three-game series from the rainout earlier in the season. Despite the early first run of the game in the bottom of the second, the Warriors struggled to push anymore across as the Firestorm capitalized across four innings to finish on top, 8-1.
Jessup would strike first in the bottom of the second with lead-off hitter
Joey Torres coming in to score off a pass ball by Arizona after starting the inning with a single up the middle. But Arizona would silence the Warriors offensively the remainder of the contest.
After starter for the Warriors Tristan Prybylinkski delivered two scoreless innings, the Firestorm bats came alive in with back-to-back doubles to start the third inning. The lead-off runner for Arizona would tag-up on a fly ball to center fielder
Sam Curtis, but Curtis gunned him down for an out at the plate preventing the tying run. Arizona would end the inning with another hit to bring in the tying run with both teams knotted at 1-1 after 2.5 innings played.
Arizona would add another two runs in the top of the fourth before Manny Velasquez came in to retire Prybylinksi who pitched 3.1 innings allowing 3 runs on 8 hits with one strikeout.
Velasquez would pitch 3 full innings, followed by
Danny Vietti (1.2) and
Jake Thompson (1). The bullpen would allow the final 5 runs on 7 hits as Prybylinski collected the loss.
The Warriors will take continue their stay in Southern California traveling to Bethesda University in Corona, CA for a three-game series starting tomorrow at 2:30p.m. followed by a double-header on Saturday slated for 11a.m.
