ROCKLIN, Calif. – The Warriors finished up their four game homestand, in Golden State Athletic Conference play, as they took on Hope International University. The Royals won the first game 4-1 and won the second game 9-1 in six innings.
Game 1
The pitching matchup was between the Warriors'
Shelbi Graifman and the Royals' Tori Franks. The Royals would get on the scoreboard first in the top of the first inning with four runs – two of which came on a Cynthia Martinez double to left field, one came on a wild pitch which scored Justice Walker and one came on an Ashley Bonham sacrifice fly to left field that scored Martinez.
The Royals led 4-0 at the end of the first inning, and the score would go silent until the seventh inning.
In the home half of the seventh inning, the Warriors would get a run back on a
Kyla Cisneros single down the right field line that scored
Ali Medina. The Warriors would not score again as the Royals won 4-1.
Franks got the win for the Royals and Graifman got the loss for William Jessup. For the Warriors, Cisneros went 2-4 with one RBI and Medina went 1-2 with one run scored.
Game 2
In game two Jessup's
Mariah Gonzalez would dual the mound with Hope International's Alejandra Guillen. As with the first game, the Royals would strike first, scoring a run in the top of the third inning on a Martinez single through the left side that would score Walker.
The Royals would lead 1-0 at the end of the first inning, followed by a third inning four-runs added .
The Royals led 5-0 at the end of the fifth inning, and in the sixth inning Hope would add four more. Two runs would come on a home run to left field by Walker, one would come on a Painter double to left center and one would come on a Destiney Fierro ground out that would score Samantha Molina.
In the bottom half of the sixth inning, the Warriors would get a run back on a solo home run by Cisneros to trim the Royals lead to 9-1. The Warriors would come no closer, however, as the Royals won 9-1 in six innings.
Guillen got the win for the Royals and Gonzalez got the loss for the Warriors.
Breanna Miskimen went 1-2 and Cisneros went 1-3 with one RBI and one run scored. For the Royals, Walker went 3-4 with two runs scored and three RBIs.
The Warriors will now be on the road for their next four games. Their next double-header is Friday as they take on Biola University in La Mirada.
