Jessup Shares Series with Vanguard Taking One of Two

Warriors Will Recognize Seniors Tomorrow in Final Home Series Against Biola

ROCKLIN, Calif. - The Lady Warriors kicked-off their final two home series against Vanguard University on Friday at Azevedo Park, taking on the already claimed regular-season GSAC Champions in a doubleheader. Jessup was able to add a late run in the bottom of the sixth and leave the Lions scoreless in game one (1-0) but they fired right back in game two holding the Warriors scoreless (6-0) for a series split.

Having been the game one starter for her junior season thus far, Shelbi Graifman looked comfortable through the seven-inning appearance only allowing one hit while managing four strikeouts for her 11th win of the season.

The Warriors, on the other hand, tallied six hits on the one run, unable to push a runner across until the bottom of the six but Corina Salinas came in off a single to left center by Taya Ruiz to seal the deal. Adding to the offensive line-up was Tessa Harris, Kyla Cisneros, Graifman and Clarissa Blaquera all collecting hits in game one.

Ruiz led the Warriors in the two-game outing going 3-6 and the solo RBI on the day and Cisneros, Harris and Graifman all had two hits on the day.

In game two, freshman Mariah Gonzalez toed the rubber taking on a hungry Lion's pack who got the early 3-0 lead in the first frame. Graifman would lead things off in the bottom of the second inning with a double but was left stranded on third unable to answer to Lion's early push.

The Warriors would add another hit to their first game total (7), but were unable to transfer it to a run leaving six on base, two in the bottom of the seventh on a two-out rally.

Natalie Basaldua and Ruiz would go 2-3 in game two leading the Warriors offensively.

Vanguard would add three more runs; one in each, the fourth, fifth and seventh for the 6-0 victory.

For the final home series of the season, the Warriors will honor their seniors in an in-between-game ceremony. First pitch against Biola University is 12 pm followed by their final regular-season game before heading to the GSAC Conference Championship May 2-4 hosted by Vanguard.
