With 10th Win of the Season, Warriors Make Program History

Warriors Take Game One at Menlo but Oaks Rally Back for 2-1 Series Final

ATHERTON, Calif. - Closing their final road series of the season at Menlo College with a doubleheader, the Warriors broke the program record for single-season wins splitting with the Oaks on the day taking game one for their 10th win of the season. Extending it to extra innings in their first outing of the day, the Warriors knocked in the winning run in the 10th inning for the 5-3 victory but were unable to hang on in game two losing to the Oaks in a walk-off single in the seventh inning, 5-4.

With three hitless innings, the Warriors cracked the bats first in the top of the fourth frame with a single to left field by Sam Curtis, who came around to score as teammate Joshua Duitsman nabbed himself an RBI-single to opposite field. Menlo didn't wait long to answer back as Julian Jarrard did it again today and hit a solo home run, his third thus far in the series, to tie it up 1-1. The Oaks would add their final two runs in the bottom of the same frame for a 3-1 lead headed to the fifth inning.

In the top of the sixth Duitsman would come through again with his third RBI of the game bringing the Warriors within one before with two innings to go. Not looking to waste any time they would answer in the following inning as Joe Howell led things off with a single, coming in to score the tying run from a double to right field by Rory Peterson.

Taking it to extra frames, the Warriors struck first again in the top of the tenth with a single by Curtis to push Petersen in scoring position with none other than Duitsman up to bat. He would come through yet again with a triple to score Petersen and Curtis for the 5-3 advantage and three outs away from their 10th win of the season.

Curtis came in for his fifth save of the season closing the final bottom frame of the game in a 3-up-3-down showing. Mikey Saldana took the win for the Warriors collecting his third of the season.

The Warriors would collect four runs on four hits in game two against Menlo, but a final inning rally in the bottom of the seventh would end in a walk-off single to put the Oaks over the Warriors 5-4.

Down 3-0 headed into the final frame of the game, the Warriors would rally for a 4-3 lead with a dynamic duo outing in the box. Leading the Warriors offensively in game two was Joey Torres (1-3) with a pair of RBI's and Leander Carter who came in to pinch hit getting 2 RBI's in his single outgoing at the plate.

But the Oaks were determined to take the series so in the final frame Menlo scored two runs on three hits to get the go-ahead run for the 5-3 win and 2-1 series finish over Jessup.

Closing out the season next week, the Warriors will host their final series against The Master's University Friday for a DH starting at 11 am and Saturday a single game slated for 2:30 pm where we will recognize our five seniors at McBean Park in Lincoln.
