ROCKLIN, Calif. - With back-to-back wins at the Simpson Volleyball Classic, the Warriors took down the host in a 3-0 sweep and continued their dominance in a 3-0 win over West Coast Baptist College in their first day of play to improve to 6-2 overall.
The Warriors came out strong against the Redhawks (25-17, 25-20, 25-16) to kick off their three-game run at the tournament over the next two days. Last week the Warriors dropped a set, still winning 3-1, but were determined to maintain the momentum to set the pace for the day taking it 3-0 over Simpson.
Head coach
Shasta Millhollin was pleased with the continued performance, "We are pleased with our ability to stay poised throughout the day today."
Taking on the West Coast Baptist Eagles in game two, the ladies stepped up their performance for the sweep yet again (25-10, 25-9, 25-10).
Leading the way was outside hitter
Danielle Schoen in both games for a combined 23 kills on the day, with a season-high 13 against the Eagles. Teammates
Sydney Molander (10),
Taylor Jacky (8) and
Kassidy Heuvelhorst (6) also contributed at the net behind the sets from leading sophomore
Jessica Williams with a combined 63 assists on the day.
"We have been practicing side out efficiency and terminating the ball out of serve receive," Millhollin said. "We managed to do that very well today and we are looking forward to playing Oregon Tech tomorrow!"
The Warriors will continue their quest at the Simpson Classic tomorrow taking on Oregon Tech at 1:30 pm.
