ROCKLIN, Calif. - The Lady Warriors brought the heat against UC Santa Cruz on Tuesday night in a quick three-set sweep (25-16, 25-12, 25-13) improving to 11-3 overall, tying the program's most wins in a season.
"Tonight was a big win for us," head coach
Shasta Millhollin reflected. "Our goal going into the match was to execute offensively and win in 3. Tying the program record is icing on the cake!"
The offensive dominance was evident from the start as the Warriors out hit the Banana Slugs 39-19. Leading the force out the gate was middle blocker,
Kassidy Heuvelhorst who finished with 11 kills and a pair of blocks, a career record in kills for the senior.
"Kassidy had a breakout match tonight," Millhollin said. "It is awesome to see everything click together."
Heuvelhorst was accompanied by familiar hitters
Taylor Jacky with 6 kills and
Danielle Schoen with 5. Across the board, the Warriors worked hard as each attacker that played the front line had two or more kills on the night.
Millhollin concluded saying, "Lastly, we cannot emphasize enough that our team culture is amazing! We plan to continue to keep God first place and keep choosing WE before me."Â
The Warrior will take on Menlo College on Saturday for their first conference matchup of the season starting at 2 pm.
"Moving forward, we need to stay on task," said Millhollin. "We still have a lot to prove. Executing in the pre season is just the beginning."Â
