ANGWIN, Calif. - Continuing their preseason quest the men's soccer team traveled up to Pacific Union for an afternoon matchup that deemed to be a change in pace and climate for the Warriors where they had some light rain, but were able to get the job done beating the Pioneers 5-0 to improve to 3-2 overall.
The Warriors worked as a team in today's matchup with five goals being scored by multiple members of the royal and red.
"Proud of our young men for coming out eager to win tonight," head coach Greg Lazaga commented. "Our young group is working hard at getting better every day. "
Kicking things off was senior
Aaron Roudebush who struck in the 8th-minute of play coming from teammate Connor Entz, for his second goal of the season.
Back-to-back goals would take the Warriors into halftime with the 3-0 lead, the first boot delivered by junior
Adolfo Guzman, his fifth goal in five games, and the second goal sent to the back of the net by freshman
Paul Anderson up the middle, striking his second goal of the season.
The Warriors would out shoot the Pioneers in the first half, 8-5, but even the ballgame in the second half with three a piece.
Anderson and
Christian Guzman would crowd the goal forcing an own goal for the Pioneers as the Warriors extended the lead 4-0. Christian finished it off in the final minutes scoring off a penalty kick as the Warriors took the 5-0 win on the road.
Lazaga concluded with, "flashes of great play happen every game, now we are just trying to work on being consistent. Glad we were able to not only score in bunches but also finish with a clean sheet."
Up next for the Warriors, they will return home and host Dominican University on Saturday with a 1pm kickoff!
