Jessup Downs Simpson in Record-Setting Win

Warriors defeat the Red Hawks 19-1 for most runs scored in program history

LINCOLN, Calif.  - The Warriors welcomed Simpson University to McBean Park for a midweek game before heading out for their first conference matchups later this week against Hope International. Jessup had a record-setting game defeating the Red Hawks 19-1 for most runs scored in program history and had a program record 6 doubles.

The Warriors didn't waste any time in the bottom of the first as Andrew Shaps sends a three-run home run over the right-field wall. The following frame the Warriors would push another three runs across, thanks to Austen Swift who hit a single to left field to bring in Sam Curtis and Joseph Howell who was pinch running for Noah Shackles. Shaps would earn his 4th RBI on the day on a fielder's choice a Jessup took the 6-0 lead after two.

Starting on the bump for the Warriors was senior Danny Vietti who had a one-two-three inning through the fourth with a career-high 6 strikeouts. Vietti (1-0) would get his first win of the season with 5IP.

Bats would come alive in the fourth, sixth and eighth inning with four runs scored in each inning. Shaps would bring in another run to go 4-6 on the day with 5RBIs with Pastora bringing in the final run of the fourth with an RBI, Jessup up 10-0.

The Red Hawks would earn their solo run in the bottom of the sixth reliever Dakota Spillers.

Pastora will start off the following frame with a 2 RBI double to right field, with Josh Duitman bringing in another pair off a single through the right side (14-1). In the bottom of the seventh Alex Nasukiewicz would push across the solo run of the inning. 

In the final inning, Jessup saw a pair of doubles from Spillers and Nasukiewicz and a single by Ben Knudsen to bring in the final four runs in the Warriors 19-1 victory.

Jessup will hit the road for their first conference matchup this Friday taking on Hope International for a single game, followed by a double-header on Saturday.
