ROCKLIN, Calif. - The William Jessup Volleyball team played the second of their back-to-back home games, losing in a competitive three-set battle with the nationally ranked Vanguard Lions, 25-18, 25-17, and 25-20.

Shasta Millhollin after the game said, "Our team continues to fight tremendously hard every point of every set. We played Vanguard tough and made some nice adjustments."
In the opening set of Saturday's contest, the Warriors started off slow as they were down 3-1 but would quickly turn on the jets, as they eventually went on a 7-1 scoring surge to take the lead, 8-4. The Warriors would hold a 13-10 advantage, but the Lions scored six unanswered points to take the lead. From then on the Warriors were unable to retake the lead and lost the set 25-18.
The Warriors found themselves trailing 8-1 right out of the gate in the second set, but would rally back after a 5-0 run, which brought the game to 11-8 with the Lions still in the lead. Each team would alternate scoring runs and it was the Lions who scored the sets final four points as the won 25-17.
There Warriors appeared to be down and out in the third set with the score 9-1, advantage Lions. However, the Warriors kept their composure and continued to chip away at the lead. With the Lions up 22-13 and ready to close out the match, the Warriors went on another 7-1 scoring run to bring the set within three points, 23-20. Despite the strong effort to close out the third set, the Warriors were unable to take down the Lions and would lose the set 25-20.

Taylor Jacky leading the way for the Warriors with 6 kills while
Vendela Williams and
Michaela Zapata each finished with 5.
Taylor Tarble has played phenomenal over this recent stretch of games and it showed again in Saturday's action as she led her team with 5 blocks on the front line.
Brianne Whitt would lead the Warriors in assists with 10 and in digs with 12.
The Warriors will go on the road to Arizona for their next two contests as they get set to take on Ottawa University on October 19 and Arizona Christian on the 20th.
