ROCKLIN, Calif. - The Jessup women's soccer team closed out non-conference matchups against Mills College in a midweek game before their final GSAC competition on Saturday. Scoring the fastest goal of the season, the Warriors scored in the first 20 seconds of the game and went on a scoring surge to defeat the Cyclones 8-0.
Sophomore
Madison Leonhardt kicked things off with her third goal of the season in the 22nd-second of the game as she placed the ball in on the right post from the center for the earliest lead of the season.
The Warriors continued to dominate the Cyclones territory with four more shots in the first 20 minutes of play, the second goal of the game from Isabelle House in the 21st minute, who also scored her third of the season sending a header over the goalie's hands from the center.
Just ten minutes later
Yvette Perez would wind up from far out, blocked by her defender but a second look would connect from equal the distance as
Alexia De La Paz scored her first goal of the game in the 30th minute.Â
The final two goals of the opening half would strike in the last 5 minutes,
Abigail House would follow her twins success with her own header in the 41st minute and
Janelle Schuette would score her seventh goal of the season off a penalty kick on the far left post. Jessup would hold the 5-0 advantage at the break.
The Warriors would shoot 19 shots in the first half and follow up with another 16 in the second half, as well as the final three goals of the game behind starting goalkeeper
Emma Whigam who recorded her third shutout of the season.Â
Hannah Massagli would connect to take the lead to 6-0 in the 58th minute with an assist by Abigail and De La Paz would score her second goal of the game in the 77th minute, another rocket from far out for her third goal of the season.Â
The final look would come from
Samantha Ross who had six attempts throughout and finally connected with 54 seconds left to play scoring her first goal in Warrior uniform and final of the game for the 8-0 advantage.Â
The Warriors are now 6-11 overall and will face their toughest opponent yet in No. 4 Vanguard University on Saturday at 11 am. Prior to kick-off, Jessup will honor the six seniors in a pre-game ceremony.Â
