Warriors Earn Fifth Win in Fourth 100-Point Victory

Jessup led by Isaiah Milan with a season-high 26 points

VALLEJO, Calif. - The Jessup men's basketball team returned to the hardwood for the final day of the CSU Maritime Classic taking on Portland Bible College where each Warrior dressed out for the night contributed to the 103-62 victory to advance to 5-1 overall.

The first half would be a strong performance from the Warriors as they shot 45-percent from the field and 40-percent from beyond the arc in the 66-34 lead. The Warriors were strong out the gate with a 13-0 lead before the Wildcats hit the board for the first time with 16:55 on the clock.

Leading scorer for the night, Isaiah Milan would sub in for Jessup just shy of the midway point and spark his 16-point surge over the next 4 minutes. He would score 11-straight points before Tyras Rattler added his own basket, and Milan continued with a pair of baskets for his last 5 points to end the four minutes.

"Throughout this short season, we've been working very hard to find the open man. The first four games we missed approximately 55 open threes. I told the guys to just trust the shot and to continue shooting the good ones," head coach Lance Von Vogt said. "They did that this weekend and our three-point percentage this weekend was well over 40% which is exactly what we need going into our game against Carroll."

The second half would bring another over-50 shooting percentage for the Warriors as they had a 37-point closing period. Each Warrior dressed would add to the 100 plus game with Milan leading the way in his season-high 26 points with a pair also contributing double figures in Rattler (11) and Nathan Kasongo (11).

"Isaiah has been working extremely hard in practice every day," Von Vogt commented. "He is a very talented energy guy who just loves to ball. His energy is contagious and he did a great job being not only a spark plug off the bench but ultimately a leader."

It will be a short break as the Warriors will return to the court Monday night to take on the nationally ranked Carroll College in Warrior Arena with a 7:30 pm tip. A pre-game ceremony will start at 7 pm as the Warriors pay tribute to teammate Kevin McLemore who passed away last week.

Von Vogt is excited to welcome the high-caliber team to Warrior Arena, "Carroll has been a perennial NAIA power over the past three seasons and is coming into our gym undefeated and nationally ranked. We will need to play to our capabilities on Monday in order to find success. I believe our guys will be ready to go. They will want to honor Kevin with a great effort."
