GLENDALE, Ariz. - For the first time in program history, the Jessup men's soccer program played their first GSAC postseason playoff game taking on Arizona Christian at the Arizona State University - West Campus facility. The Warriors held the Firestorm scoreless through 42 minutes but a late goal would spur the halftime lead to continuing through the second half as ACU took the game 5-0.
Jessup senior goalkeeper,
Nick Garcia held down the post for the Warriors with four saves on the Firestorm's 11 shots in the first 45 minutes of play, allowing just one goal in the first half coming minutes before halftime.Â
The Warriors would challenge ACU's net with four of their own shots in the opening half, two taken by junior transfer
Denilzon Puentes.Â
The second-half would be in the home teams favor as they got off to a strong start with their scoring surge kicking off in the 57th minute for the 2-0 advantage. The third and fourth goal would come back-to-back in the 67th and 73rd minutes as the Warriors would have a large deficit to come back from.Â
In an attempt to claw back the Warriors would have a total of 9 shots in the second half to come close to the Firestorm's 11 shots taken. The final goal for the home team would come in the 84th minute as the Warriors season came to an end a short 6 minutes later.
Jessup finishes the season 6-10-1 with their first postseason appearance since joining the Golden State Athletic Conference.
