ROCKLIN, Calif. - Facing their second opponent of the weekend, the Warriors welcomed Oregon Tech to Azevedo Park for a doubleheader Saturday afternoon. The Warriors we unable to answer back to the Owl's early lead in game one dropping 6-2, but had a comeback sixth inning in game two to end on top 7-4, splitting with the nationally recognized Oregon Tech on the day.
GAME 1
Starting things off strong the Owls went up in the first frame 1-0 but the Warriors didn't wait long to answer back as
Shelbi Graifman hit a double through the left side to score
Abbie Lewis and tie it up 1-1 to finish the first inning.
The Owls would go up again in the top of the third with a two-run homer over the left field fence and this time the Warriors pushed one across in the following frame with
Natalie Basaldua bringing in
Corina Salinas, but not enough for the lead, Owls up 3-2.
The Owls would add another in the fifth, sixth and seventh inning to take game one 6-2.
Graifman would pitch a complete game continuing her strikeout streak with 13 strikeouts in her loss, now 7-4.
GAME 2
It was a change of the tides in game two as the Warriors would hit the scoreboard first with Graifman bringing in Lewis who made her way around the bases with a stolen base after getting on with a walk. The Owls would answer back with taking advantage of a Warrior error to tie it up 1-1.
The Warriors continued what they started in the first inning pushing two more runs across as
Taya Ruiz kicked things off with a single, followed by Salinas who brought Ruiz in to go up 2-1.
Lauren Garoutte would advance home on a wild pitch as the Warriors held a 3-1 lead at the end of the second.
Adding another run in the third and fourth it was a tie ballgame through the top of the sixth when the Owls took a 4-3 lead. The Warriors bat would come alive just in time in the bottom of the sixth with two outs as Salinas and Lewis to load the bases and Graifman would take her base being hit by the pitch as the Warriors tied it up 4 all.
It would be
Jena Ovens who decided the Warrior's fate sending a double to the fence to clear the bases for the final 7-4 victory with the seventh inning being a wash.
Graifman would come into the circle for the win just in time to go 8-4 on the season,
Jenna Patterson pitching the first 5.2 innings with a strong showing.
The Warriors will head to Simpson University on Monday for a 2 pm game, having split with the Red Hawks a couple weeks ago Jessup now 10-5 overall will look to continue their success.
