PHOENIX, Ariz. - The Warriors hit the road this week for a series against GSAC opponent, Arizona Christian University (8-10, 3-7). It was a pitcher's duel on the diamond Friday afternoon, as neither WJU or ACU allowed a run until the bottom of the 4th inning.
The Firestorm found their momentum first in the fourth inning brining three runs across the plate to take the lead.
Jessup attempted a late rally in the top of the 7th as
Cal Koga took his base on a hit by pitch.
Alex Nasukiewicz would hit a single to right field, advancing to 2nd on a fielding error. This would push
Kawai Takemura, pinch running for Koga, across the plate to cut the Firestorm's lead to 3-1. Battling against tough pitching, the Warriors could not find the connection they needed to bring runners home, seeing the game out 3-1 in Arizona's favor.
In an impressive outing,
Ashkhon Kuhaulua struck out a season-high 13 batters in his 7 innings, allowing just 8 hits on the day.
The Warriors continue their series against the Firestorm in a doubleheader tomorrow starting at 9am PST.
