ROCKLIN, Calif. - It was another full day of volleyball for the Warriors coming off a pair of wins to start the season on Wednesday, and three games ahead of them to close out the two-day Invitational. After a 3-1 victory over Antelope Valley, the Warriors lost a four-set battle with Northwest Christian and fell three sets to Southern Oregon, finishing 3-2 their first week in action.

GAME 1
The Warriors pushed their record to 3-0 as they defeated the University of Antelope Valley in four sets. After defeating the Pioneers in the opening two sets 25-22 and 25-13, the Warriors lost in the third set 21-25. After scoring six straight points in the fourth set to take a 9-2 lead, the Warriors didn't look back as they won in dominating fashion, 25-9.Â
Ashanti Grayer led the Warriors with 8 kills,
Vendela Williams finished close behind (7) and
Michaela Zapata had 6.
Brianne Whitt had a phenomenal performance as she led the team with 5 aces and 16 assists.Â
GAME 2
The Warriors second matchup came against Northwest Christian University, this time unable to come back losing in four sets. After a hot start in set one, the Warriors fell 22-25. However, they responded quickly bouncing back in set two, winning 25-17. Unable to fend off the Beacons, the Warriors lost in the final two sets, 22-25 and 14-25 to lose the match. Â
Despite the loss,
Vendela Williams had a season-high 10 kills and finished with 3 blocks.
Taylor Jacky was on top from the service line with three aces and led the way with 20 digs.
Madison Pelham and Whitt led with 17 and 16 assists respectively.
GAME 3Â
In game three the Warriors lost to Southern Oregon University in straight sets, 20-25, 16-25, and 12-25. Grayer led with 7 kills while
Jasmine Pinon tallied 6. Pelham led the Warriors with 10 assists and Whitt closed out with 8.Â
After the game head coach
Shasta Millhollin said "Today was a good day for our team. We did not get the number of wins that we hoped for, we did, however, learn a lot about continuing to play with purpose through adversity. We have a lot of work to do and we are excited to continue to grind through this pre-season."
The Warriors will be back in action on August 22 as they host their second tournament in the WJU Classic.Â
