Warriors honor eight seniors on Horton Court in final home matchup

Jessup will look to bounce back in final road series in hopes for conference tournament berth

ROCKLIN, Calif –  The William Jessup Warrior volleyball team celebrated senior day as they hosted The Master's University Mustangs in what was a battle to open in set one, but the visiting Mustangs took over to take it 3-1 (26-24, 19-25, 17-25, & 11-2).

The opening set went back and forth as it saw nineteen different ties. It was the Mustangs who were the first team to attempt to pull away as Jessup went down 13-16 before coming back and tying things at 17 apiece. Both teams continued to trade leads and with the scored knotted up at 24, until the Warriors pulled out back-to-back points, winning set one 26-24.

Looking to build off a successful first set, the Warriors leaped out to a 7-3 lead in the second set. The Warriors held the lead mid-way through the set, 14-9 but a 7-1 run would spark for the Mustangs as they took the lead 16-15. Another 5-0 run would be the deciding factor as Master's took set two, 25-19.

The third set would favor the Mustangs as the Warriors continued to battle trailing by no more than four points midway through the set, but a hungry Master's coming off a three-set loss last night would take the set 25-17 and cruise to a 25-11 win over the Warriors in the final set to take it 4-1.

Sophomore Ashanti Grayer led the forces offensively as she tied her season-high 15 kills on the night, followed by Taylor Jacky with 8 and Alicia Borges with 7. Also on the offensive end, Jessica Williams had 16 assists and Brianne Witt followed with 15; Kacey Berger led from the service line with a pair of aces.

The Warriors will continue their quest for the conference tournament in their final road trip of the regular season next week to take on Hope International and Life Pacific.
