ROCKLIN, Calif. – The 17th ranked Warriors entered into their second to last game of the season against 24th Arizona Christian University. The Warriors looked to continue their two-game win streak with a strong, fast push on offense but were unable to continue that momentum as the final buzzer favored the visiting Firestorm, 90-87.
The first half saw a back-and-forth battle between the Warriors and the Firestorm with no team having a notable lead.
Tate DeLaVeaga led in scoring for the Warrior's first half with 10 points, as the game was tied at 39 each at the break.
The second half was more of the same as the largest lead of the game was the Warriors by 5 before the midway point. The game would be tied four times with lead changes with under 10 minutes to go, but the Firestorm would go on a 7-0 run with just under 7 minutes remaining to take the final lead to the finish. The Warriors would get within one point with 28 seconds left, but the final buzzer would favor the Firestorm.
The Warriors had 34 rebounds in the game, 15 of which were from this week's NAIA Player of the Week
Keith Phillips.
Antonio Lewis led the Warriors in scoring with 19 points while
Darrell Polee and Phillips each had 15.
Brandon Lindsey was right behind with 14 points of his own.
The Warriors return to the Warrior Arena on Thursday, February 28th at 7:30 PM to face off against Menlo College in their last game of the regular season where a pre-game ceremony will celebrate the graduating seniors.
