LINCOLN, Calif. - The Warriors found themselves back in the win column as they took both games in a doubleheader hosting the San Diego Christian Hawks, 4-3 and 11-1.
In the opening game, the Warriors were unable to record a hit after four innings of work and they trailed 2-0. However, the bats would come alive in the fifth inning. After
Chelsie Kam-Aweau was walked,
Taya Ruiz hit a laser to right field and was in for a stand-up triple as Kam-Aweau crossed the plate for the Warriors first run.
Ruiz's triple would spark the Warriors onto scoring four runs in the fifth inning and that proved to be the difference as they would fend off a late seventh-inning surge from the Hawks as the final score read 4-3 in favor of Jessup. The winning pitcher on the mound was
Taylor Garcia as she pitched all seven innings, allowing only one earned run.
The second bout between these teams was a much higher scoring contest with the Warriors dominating from start to finish. After two innings, the Warriors had a narrow 2-0 lead. In the third inning, the Warriors would blow the gates open as they put up eight runs and held a commanding 10-0 lead.
The Warriors would follow up in the fourth inning by adding one more insurance run. Given a tough test in the top of the fifth inning, the Warriors allowed just one run, the job was completed as Jessup won 11-1 to wrap up a second-straight victory.
Brooke Sarro was the winning pitcher in game two, as she led the way in all five innings and finished with zero earned runs.
Conference play will continue for the Warriors as they head to Ottawa University for a single game on March 28th to make-up for the series at home, followed by a doubleheader on March 29th.
