LINCOLN, Calif. - A little delay due to rain would turn into a sunny afternoon for the Warriors in their final two games of the series hosting Ottawa University. The Warriors would come from behind in both games Saturday, but a late rally would fall short in game two as the Warriors and Spirit finished with an even split, 2-2.
The Spirit would go ahead in the opening frame of the day 3-0 against starting pitcher for the Warriors
Ricardo Torres, who put in a solid six innings on the bump coming out with the win on the other end.
It would take a solid bottom of the third from Jessup to even the score as a two-out rally would bring in a pair of walks as
Anders Green hit the two-RBI double.
Cal Koga would the hit the RBI single to tie it up as the Warriors and Spirit were even on the board with 6 innings to go.
Another trio of runs would cross for the Warriors in the sixth as
Noah Shackles brought in the RBI single and bases loaded, one out, fielder's choice would make it 5-3 with two outs. The final run would cross as the Warriors capitalized on the Spirit's error to make it a 6-3 lead.
A solo run would cross in the following frame as the Spirit tried to rally back with senior
Tyler Fujimoto on the mound in the seventh, but closer
Jordan Yu would a pair of scoreless innings to record the save as Jessup took home the 6-4 victory.
The first two innings would see five runs for the visiting team as the Warriors didn't answer back until the bottom of the third when Koga hit a two-run homer over the left field wall. That pair of runs was answered back by the Spirit in the following frame to go up 7-2.
Another three runs would come through for the Warriors in the fifth and the sixth, but the late rally would come up short as the Warriors dropped the final game of the series to go 2-2 against OUAZ.
Jessup will turn around and be back home this coming week taking on St. Katherine on Friday and Saturday for a four-game series.
