OREM, Utah — Jessup women's basketball played their third game in as many days Thursday, losing to the Utah Valley Wolverines by a final of 84-43.
Playing in their second consecutive game in Utah, Jessup played their fourth game against an NCAA Division I program as they look to continue prepping for the upcoming slate of GSAC games beginning in January.
Facing off with yet another stout opponent, the Warriors are gaining valuable experience in playing these top tier teams. In any game, the lessons learned can be used to your benefit down the road, but that point is emphasized when most games on the schedule are against athletes at the Division I level.
Head coach
Hernando Planells emphasized the pride he has in this team, along with the fight and the grit they have down during a tumultuous road trip.
"I love the fight of our girls! There is no one in the country that is playing three (Division I schools) and playing across three states." He continued with, "These girls just never give up, and it's a sign of things to come.
"These ladies are true Warriors! They are believing in what is going on, and it's awesome."
Top scorers for Jessup Thursday evening were
Bobbie Purify and
Paige Winter, with seven points each. Winter, along with
Miranda Zaragoza, both led the team in rebounding with five.
Jessup gets a much-needed day off now, as they will have Friday off to travel for two more games on the road. The Warriors will be in Idaho over the weekend for a duo of games at The College of Idaho on Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m.
