Warriors Clinch Their First Trip to the GSAC Tournament

Warriors to take on No. 17 Westmont on Saturday with significant playoff implications on the line

ROCKLIN, Calif. – With just two matches remaining in the regular season and eyes on scores throughout the GSAC, Jessup played host to The Master's University on Thursday. A scoreless first half set up an exciting finish, but it was the visiting side taking home three points in the end.

"We never really got a rhythm going today," said Head Coach David Nolan after the match. "Our work rate was there, but tactically we struggled to adapt and never really got a grasp of the game."

The opening 45-minutes of Thursday's contest was a back-and-forth battle, with the Warriors firing off six shots to the Mustang's ten. Kaylee Gillespie had the bulk of the Jessup offensive attack, with two shots on goal.

Goalkeeper Olivia Foulk was called upon numerous times in the opening half, as she recorded seven saves.

The deadlock was broken three minutes into the second half, as TMU's Emily Radmilovich played an over-the-top ball into the box to Kyndel Borman. Borman collected the ball at the top of the 18-yard box and placed it over Foulk's reach to score the match's lone goal.

Jessup continued to press as they adjusted to an attacking formation by replacing members of the backline with forwards. The Warriors proceeded to fire off nine shots in the second half.

Gillespie ripped off nine shots in the match, four of which went on goal. TMU's Ariana Romero continued to keep the Warriors off the scoreboard as she totaled six saves in the 90-minute shutout.

With the victory, the Mustangs have jumped the Warriors in the GSAC standings, as they move to a tie for third place with 12 points. Jessup is currently tied with Menlo for fifth, as both sit on 11 points, but the Warriors do hold a victory over Menlo from earlier this season.

Around the GSAC, results from Thursday place the Warriors five points ahead of the seventh-place team San Diego Christian, clinching the Warriors their first-ever trip to the GSAC Women's Soccer Tournament. Depending on the results, Jessup can finish as high as third and as low as sixth.

The top-two seeds in the GSAC earn an automatic bye to the second round. Seeds three and four will be the home team in their opening-round match. As it stands currently, Jessup would open the GSAC Tournament on the road.

One match remains on the schedule, and it will be important in terms of seeding for both sides, as Jessup hosts No. 17 Westmont College this Saturday. Westmont comes in tied for first in the GSAC with Hope International. The match is scheduled for 11 a.m. and will be preceded by Jessup's annual Senior Day ceremony.
