SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – Jessup Volleyball took the floor for their second bout in back-to-back days against The Master's University Mustangs. The Warriors battled but could not find a strong sense of consistency as they lost in straight sets.
Similar to how yesterday's match started, the Warriors held the lead early, 3-1. The Mustangs battled back and had the set tied, but
Taylor MacCuish put Jessup back on top 8-7 with a kill. The lead was short-lived as TMU scored the following six points. From that point on, the Warriors were playing from behind, and the set was lost, 25-18.
Contrary to the opening set, the Warriors trailed early as they were down 5-1 to start the second set. The Mustangs were rolling, and they led by as much as fifteen. That said, the Warriors dug deep and stayed the course. Trialing 21-6, Jessup went on a scoring spree as they scored 10 of the next 11 points. It ended up being too little too late, and the Warriors dropped the set 25-20.
The Warriors came out on a mission to start the third set as they took a five-point advantage, 6-1 over TMU. Responding quickly, the Mustangs went on a run of their own as they put up five consecutive points, tying the set, 6-6.
MacCuish again put the Warriors in the lead with a block, but once the Mustangs regained the lead, they held it for the duration. Still fighting till the end, the Warriors got within two points down the stretch after a
Taylor Tarble kill had the score at 22-20. TMU went on to take the set and math by ending set three, 25-20.
Leading the team in kills and blocks were MacCuish with seven and three, respectively, while
Mallory Pazin had a team-high 11 assists. From the service line MacCuish and Pazin each had three aces, and on defense,
Mary Padilla ended with 12 digs.
The Warriors will wrap up their season with a trip down south as they will see San Diego Christian beginning on Tuesday, March 30 at 6 p.m. That match can be live-streamed
