SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – With just two matches remaining on the schedule, Jessup began the final push toward the postseason with a road date in Santa Barbara. Taking on No. 16 ranked Westmont College, Jessup needed to escape with three points, but in the end, they walked away with a 2-1 defeat.
 
Jessup's lone goal of the day came in highlight fashion late in the match as Kye Johnson netted her third goal of the season. Johnson took a rip at goal near the corner of the pitch, sending the ball sailing into the back corner of the net to put her side on the board.
 
Westmont took a 1-0 lead in the 36th minute as Karly Kinglsey scored her third goal of the season. Ande Siegel made it a 2-0 lead with a goal just a minute before halftime.
 
The loss drops the Warriors to 3-8-2 overall and 1-5-1 within the GSAC. Still sitting on four points, the Warriors remain three spots out of the final spot in the GSAC Tournament.
 
To qualify for the postseason, Jessup will need to win their final match of the season, but they will also need some help. Before the Warriors step onto the field Saturday, Jessup will need OUAZ to beat Arizona Christian on Friday. An Arizona Christian victory will eliminate Jessup from postseason play.
 
Should the Firestorm fall to the Spirit and Jessup takes down The Master's on Saturday, Jessup will win the head-to-head tiebreaker with both ACU and TMU as they would hold victories over both sides.
 
Match time for Saturday in Santa Clarita is 11 a.m.
