ROCKLIN, Calif. – Three weeks into the new season, the NAIA dropped the latest Top-25 Coaches' Poll Wednesday morning. Six games into the campaign, the Warriors have started the year 4-2, placing them nine spots lower than where they opened up in the preseason poll.
Jessup drops to No. 15 in the nation, a nine-spot difference from their No. 6 ranking on October 26's preseason poll.
The Warriors are coming off a victory in their last
official contest, taking down (RV) Huntington University in Southern Oregon University's Flagship Inn Classic. The Warriors trailed by as many as 14 in the second half, but a late comeback sparked the victory.
Huntington remains RV in the latest poll.
Jessup took on two teams receiving national votes in their first six games. Opening night saw the Warriors fall to then No. 22 ranked Oregon Tech. The Owls are now receiving votes in Wednesday's updated poll.
GSAC rival Arizona Christian remains the top team in the country, as the 4-0 Firestorm received 19 first-place votes. OUAZ (RV) is the only team in the GSAC to be still receiving national votes.
The only other team on Jessup's schedule receiving national votes is Jamestown University. The Jimmies are 3-0 this season and move up four spots to No. 5. Jessup and Jamestown will meet on November 27 in
The Show in Kingsport, Tenn.
Jessup starts conference play this weekend, taking on San Diego Christian and Hope International. Game times are set for 7:30 (Thursday) and 3 p.m. (Saturday).
