Jovicevic Drops 28 to Lead Jessup Over Oregon Tech

Jovicevic comes off the bench to lead all players in scoring; Jessup sweeps their Thanksgiving Classic

ROCKLIN, Calif. – If you're going to host a weekend of basketball over the Thanksgiving weekend, you might as well get a few wins. After winning Friday night against Simpson, Jessup knew they would have a tough test ahead of them on Saturday, but a hot night off the bench sparked the Warriors to a victory over the Oregon Tech Hustlin' Owls.

The victory, a 66-62 final, pushes the Warriors to .500 on the campaign at 5-5.

Jessup was sparked by the 24 minutes of action they got off the bench from Andrea Jovicevic. Jovicevic dropped a season-high 28 points, connecting on 9-of-13 from the field and 4-of-7 from beyond the arc.

The junior guard was feeling it, hitting clutch basket after clutch basket. Perhaps her best moment of the day came with 4:58 to play in the third when she converted on a step-back triple to put the Warriors ahead by one.

Oregon Tech dominated the early going on this one, leading 18-9 at the end of one while holding the Warriors to just 30 percent from the floor. The Owls kept the door open, though, as the Warriors scored 21 points in the second to draw within five entering halftime.

Jessup's momentum stayed with them out of the break as they outscored Oregon Tech 20-11 in the period to take a four-point lead. Jovicevic scored 11 of her 28 points in the third quarter alone.

The Owls would not concede, no matter how much fight the Warriors showed, as they produced a 10-0 run early in the fourth to take a four-point advantage. The lead held until Makaila Napoleon scored two of her 18 points to put the Warriors ahead 62-20. The dagger came in the final 30 seconds as Jovicevic scored to put Jessup ahead by three and later went 1-of-2 at the line to give the Warriors a four-point cushion.

Jessup turned their early shooting woes into a 41 percent performance for the day. They added a 6-for-22 showing from three.

Oregon Tech dominated the glass in this one, outrebounding Jessup 43-23. Olivia Sprague led the way with 23 points and ten rebounds. Melissa Lee also added ten points and nine boards. Jessup's leading rebounder was Natalie Moulos, with seven.

Now on a two-game win streak, Jessup can shift focus back to the GSAC as they welcome a pair of conference foes to Warrior Arena next week. Vanguard will be in town on Thursday, followed by Life Pacific on Saturday. It's all part of a five-game homestand that wraps up against Menlo on December 10.
