SURPRISE, Ariz. – Coming off just their third loss of the season two nights ago, the Warriors looked to flip the switch on Saturday and get back to their winning ways. Momentum was hard to come by from the start, as Jessup suffer back-to-back losses, this time 78-62 at the hands of OUAZ.
The loss drops the Warriors to 24-4 overall on the season, 12-4 in the conference season. Jessup trails ACU by 1.5 games for first place and holds a 0.5 game lead on Hope International but owns the regular-season tiebreaker over the Royals.
Cashemin Williams once again was the Warriors' leading scorer, ending the day with 19 points over his 35 minutes on the court. Williams shot 50-percent from the field, connecting on 6-of-12.
Jordan Adams helped provide some offense from behind the three-point arc, scoring 12 while shooting 3-of-6 from deep.
Tarren Storey-Way also contributed 10 points while playing 35 minutes.
OUAZ jumped ahead early in this one, taking a 28-11 advantage through 12 minutes of basketball. The Warriors would trim the deficit to eight at 42-34, entering halftime, but at no point in this game did the Warriors lead.
Saturday is the second game in a row that Jessup held no lead over 40 minutes of basketball.
OUAZ held a double-digit lead for the final 16:45 of play and eventually pushed the lead up to as many as 23 in the second half.
Leading the Spirit offensively was the combo of Josiah De'la Cerda and Kolten Hitt, who each finished with 15. OUAZ had six players score in double-figures as they pushed their record up to 10-7 in GSAC play.
Jessup shot 36-percent from the floor on Saturday, matched with a 34.5-percent showing from three-point range.
OUAZ put up a 39.7-percent showing from the field and fired off 13 more shots than Jessup did.
The Warriors have two games remaining on their schedule, both coming at home, starting with The Master's University on Thursday night. The regular season ends on Saturday when Westmont College comes to town.
The 2022 GSAC Tournament will take place February 23 – 26 from Hope International University in Fullerton.
