Senior Day Sees the Warriors Fall to the Reigning Champs, 72-55

Moulos scores 11 off the bench to lead Jessup; Warriors honored four of their graduating seniors before the game

ROCKLIN, Calif. – With the reigning champions of the NAIA in town, the Warriors battled in the final regular-season game of the season. Honoring seniors before the game, Jessup could not give them the perfect send-off, as Westmont won the game, 72-55.

Westmont entered Saturday with the GSAC regular-season championship and a trip to the NAIA National Tournament already wrapped up. They also sit at No. 3 in the nation.

Before the game started, Jessup put on a ceremony to honor their four graduating seniors: Bobbie Purify, Cheyenne Jankulovski, JoeLyn Stirton, and Juliette Caughey.

Westmont jumped out to a 20-11 lead through the first quarter, but Jessup quickly settled in to start the second, as it was only a 16-14 advantage for the visiting squad.

The Warriors of Jessup shot 9-of-25 (37.5-percent) from the floor in the opening half, compared to an over 50-percent showing from Westmont.

Westmont pushed their lead to 17 through three quarters, making the chances of a Senior Day victory seem out of reach. Jessup split in the fourth, with both teams putting 15 on the board.

The loss Saturday drops Jessup to 14-16 on the season and .500 in the GSAC with a record of 9-9. Westmont moves to 23-3 overall and 16-2 within the conference.

Leading the scoring for Jessup was Natalie Moulos, who put up 11 points in her 22 minutes off the bench. Moulos connected on 2-of-4 from three.

Maila Lepolo added nine points for the home squad, connecting on a perfect 4-for-4 from the charity stripe. Kayla Vieira contributed eight off the bench.

Stefanie Berberabe led the way for Westmont with a double-double, scoring 17 points to pair with 10 assists. Westmont had three players end the game scoring in double figures.

Next on the schedule for Jessup is the conference tournament, beginning next week from The Master's University in Santa Clarita. Official seeding and game times for the tournament will be announced on Saturday night with the competition of games around the GSAC.
