Early Leads Could Not be Sustained as Jessup is Swept by Hope International

The Warriors jumped out to big leads in each game; Jessup will be back at McBean Park next weekend

FULLERTON, Calif. – The Warriors got back on the diamond Saturday after dropping two yesterday to start the series. The day did not go as planned, as the Warriors have now lost eight straight following a sweep by the Hope International Royals.

Jessup got off to a hot start in game one, taking a 6-0 lead into the bottom of the fifth. The scoring started with an RBI double from Jorge Perez and ended with a two-run double by Jaisten Cabatbat.

HIU got on the board with a run in the fifth before tacking on four in the sixth to cut Jessup's lead to one. The big blow came in the eight as a two-run homer put the Royals up by one. The Warriors went down in order in the ninth, dropping the opener 7-6.

Marlin Brucato takes the loss after 2.1 innings of relief in which he allowed just one hit. Kristian Hernandez started the game and allowed 4 runs over 5 innings of work.

Game two started much like the first, as Perez got the Warriors on the board first with a solo home run. Jessup tacked on three runs in the second to power ahead 4-0.

From that point on, HIU managed to score in every inning. Two in the second, followed by one in the third cut the lead to 4-3. Another two-run shot in the fourth put HIU up for good as they eventually won the game 13-4.

Leaving Fullerton, Jessup is now on the wrong end of a nine-game losing streak, and they have suffered back-to-back sweeps.

Max Moreno took the loss in game two after allowing 9 runs (8 earned) over 4 innings of work.

The Warriors will be back home next weekend as San Diego Christian comes to town. That four-game series will begin on Friday at 11 a.m.
