RANCO PALOS VERDES, Calif. – GSAC Tennis was on the schedule Saturday as the Warriors continued their Southern California trip at Marymount California University. The day was a success as the women's program picked up its first GSAC win of the season.
Jessup Women's Tennis hit the courts at 1 p.m., and backed by three singles victories, the Warriors topped the Mariners 4-2. It's GSAC win number one of the season for the program.
Singles play saw victories from
Aysha Hayes (7-5, 6-3),
Nicollet Alexander (7-5, 6-4), and
Danielle Akabane (6-4, 6-2).
McKenzie Hawkins, Syndey Page, and
Juliette Caughey (unfinished) were all in action for the Warriors as well.
Over to doubles action, the duo of Hayes and Alexander won their bout 6-4. Caughey and Hawkins also teamed up to win 6-0 as the Warriors took the one point for doubles.
In the men's match, winning his first singles contest of the season was
Jordan Lenney. Lenney took the bout in just two sets, winning 6-0, 6-1.
Noah Moeckelmann and
Aidan Sauer lost their singles matches.
Sam Smith's match went unfinished.
Smith and Lenney teamed up in doubles, falling 6-1. Moeckelmann and Sauer won their bout 6-1 as the two sides split in doubles.
Marymount won the match 3-1.
Jessup will return to action on March 18 for a scrimmage at San Diego City College before taking on San Diego Christian the next day.
