Match Recap: Women's Tennis | | Matthew Horrocks

Tennis Ends its Season in the GSAC Quarterfinal

Men’s Tennis ends year one a day after the first victory in program history; Women’s Tennis made the deepest program run in program history

SURPRISE, Ariz. – One day following Jessup's two tennis programs making history in the GSAC Tournament, the 2022 season has come to an end. With the Warriors drawing both top seeds in the quarterfinal round, the Warriors suffered 4-0 losses in both matches.

The day began with the women's program hitting the court against the Spirit of OUAZ.

OUAZ jumped ahead to a 1-0 lead early on after taking the point for double's play. They then added three points in singles action to take the match. Aysha Hayes, Nicollet Alexander, Danielle Akabane, McKenzie Hawkins, Sydney Page, and Juliette Caughey were in action on Tuesday.

The matches of Hayes, Alexander, and Caughey went unfinished.

Jessup's men's team hit the courts at 12:30 p.m., one day removed from a comeback to secure the first win in program history. Ahead of them was the current No. 13 team in the country, the San Diego Christian Hawks.

Similar to how the women's match began, the Hawks jumped ahead 1-0 after scoring the point for double's play.

Single's play saw the Hawks snag two quick points by default, taking a 3-0 lead before singles action could officially begin. The matches of Sam Smith, Kadyn Silva, and Noah Moeckelmann all went unfinished in the 4-0 loss.

The 2022 season saw Women's Tennis make the deepest postseason run in program history, while Men's Tennis sparked optimism for 2023 with their strong play in the tournament.
